Memphis Rocks

Wear your Memphis pride and give back at the same time

Memphis is known around the world as the Home of the Blues and the Birthplace of Rock n’ Roll, but our city ROCKS in more ways than one! Memphis is mentioned in more songs than any other city in the world and we have a long legacy of music icons with Memphis roots, but we’re also famous for our entrepreneurial spirit, warm hospitality, food (of course, including BBQ), our culture and arts, and our spirit and soul!  You might say it’s just in the water, but our city ROCKS!

Memphis Rocks is a civic pride campaign designed to give back by supporting the Memphis Police Department Fallen Officer Memorial.  We worked with LPBC partner, T-Shirt Champions to design and create a T-shirt that sparks conversation by listing some of the many things that make our city great. The music note behind ROCKS includes everything from the University of Memphis, Shelby Farms, Graceland, Memphis Grizzlies, the Orpheum, the Memphis Redbirds, and Beale Street to people, like Elvis, Kirk Whalum, Justin Timberlake, Jerry Lee Lewis, Al Green, and Aretha Franklin.   All proceeds benefit the the MPD Fallen Officer Memorial, which is a million dollar, privately funded project to honor the now 63 MPD Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and the family and friends they leave behind.  To date, more than $60,000 has been raised from sales of the Memphis Rocks T-shirts to benefit the MPD Fallen Officer Memorial.

So, wear your pride, support the MPD Fallen Officer Memorial, and help us show the world why Memphis ROCKS...all at the same time!  You can find Memphis Rocks shirts at retailers around town, like the Beale Street Gift Store, or order them online at www.MemphisRocksMerch.com .  The shirts come in a variety of colors and sizes.  We also have a special stock at our Lipscomb & Pitts Building for those who want to drop by and check them out.

Below is the television commercial that kicked off the Memphis Rocks campaign, along with some of the news coverage and related multi-media.  On our Facebook page, we have a whole photo gallery dedicated to pictures submitted by individuals, families, friends, and even companies wearing their Memphis Rocks shirts all over the world.  In April 2013, Memphis Rocks became a category at the On Location: MEMPHIS International Film & Music Festival, as well.  Similar to categories, like feature films and documentaries, Memphians now have a chance to produce short films, five minutes or less, that capture their perspectives or some of their efforts that make Memphis Rock.  These films are then shown on the silver screen at the festival in front of a sold-out theater that includes filmmakers from all around the world.  Watch some of the short films and learn more about the annual category on our "Memphis Rocks in Film Fest" section.

So, whether it is with a shirt or video camera or even billboards across the Mid-South with fun facts about our community, our goal is to show the world why Memphis ROCKS!
