Mission & History

Summary

The Lipscomb Pitts Breakfast Club (LPBC) is a privately-funded catalyst for the Mid-South, comprised of a team of partner businesses that are combining forces and funds to host an array of media and more than 150 events each year to enrich and impact the community.  The organization has been serving the Mid-South since 2005.

Mission

To be a force for good!

Focus

The LPBC is focused on five key areas:

1) Strategic Corporate Philanthropy - Bringing businesses together to align resources and efforts to make a collective impact in the community;

2) Fostering Collaboration - Bringing all sides of our city - business, nonprofit, education, faith, and government - together to foster collaboration;

3) FREE Community Events - Making it easy for all citizens to become more engaged by offering FREE public events that enrich and give back;

4) Turnkey Volunteerism - Providing turnkey opportunities for individuals of all ages, along with companies and their employees to become more engaged in the community;

5) Positive Media - Providing a pipeline for positive stories to be shared and media outlets to spread good news and energy.

The LPBC is focused on serving as a catalyst to bring the community together and to help citizens become more successful and engaged, with a mindset toward creating collective impact.  So, in some capacity, we work with just about every business, nonprofit, school, civic group, church, government body, and organization in town.  We strive to bring everyone together in order to provide enrichment events, foster collaboration and teamwork, champion positives, and empower giving back.

Culture

The foundation of the LPBC is rooted in weaving a philanthropic culture of giving back and collective impact into the normal routine of business and life within our community, so that it is part of the DNA and fabric of our city. The organization has been internationally recognized for changing the model of business networking groups by re-inventing the template and showcasing the real power of corporate philanthropy where businesses come together with a higher purpose of impacting the community.

By engaging thousands in “plug-and-play” opportunities to personally grow, build stronger relationships, and give back in the process, the organization has been able to build a strong network of over 50,000 local professionals who contribute to various efforts.

Structure

The LPBC is comprised of various partner businesses, which are each exclusive in their core business category and come together to underwrite the costs of these events and efforts.  In this manner, the LPBC can invite the whole Mid-South community to participate in different events and programs at no cost to the public.  The partners function as a brain trust for each other, sharing ideas and resources, while serving as a referral source for each other, as well.  The LPBC thus offers both partner-only programs and events, as well as community events, which are open to everyone in the Mid-South.

The LPBC keeps in touch with everyone through a free newsletter, which shares upcoming LPBC events that are open to the community, positive news and updates, job postings, nonprofit events, and much more. If you'd like to receive the updates and other special invitations, please subscribe to the email newsletter.  If you would like more information on possibly becoming a partner company and playing a part in our efforts in the community, please email or call us.

History

The LPBC was launched in Memphis in 2005, as a part of a franchise agreement.  Lipscomb & Pitts Insurance, LLC helped found the organization as title sponsor.  Lipscomb & Pitts Insurance, LLC purchased the rights and took full ownership in 2007, which allowed the organization to re-invent the model and turn what was once a simple business networking group, hosting only a handful of events each year, into a powerful team of businesses hosting an array of media and more than 150 events each year focused on impacting and transforming our community.
